Roosevelt Island + Cats

We stopped by Roosevelt Island yesterday, after a long time of not seeing it. Last time we went was at least 5 months ago. We didn't get to walk the whole island this time since it started to get dark, but it was great to walk around the lower part of the island with the ruins.

I always love to see the cute little visitor center building when we exit the tram!

And I finally got some popcorn from one of those food trucks, butter and garlic parm mix, it was pretty good (before it got too salty) But a nice snack to have while sitting by the water.

The sunset was WILD on the island, the view was fantastic. The one thing I don't like about the view usually is that buildings like the Chrysler Building are covered, but this sunset made these buildings look way better than I ever thought they could look.

Plus I was so happy to see the Chrysler Building peeking out here in front of the sunset!! Such a good shot.

And just right of the sunset were these fluffy clouds just behind the bridge, I love when clouds look like this and the pinkish yellow color they had to them.

Walking further down, we saw a chubby cat hanging out by the edge of the water, and found out that there are over 20 homeless cats on the island that volunteers can help out with, we will defiantly be back to do that. There was a very sweet little boy cat with the smallest meow who was so friendly!

The Smallpox Hospital ruins are one of the most interesting things on the whole island, I've wanted to see them for years before I even knew what they were. Going on vacation as kids, we would pass the island and I'd be so into them and how cool they looked.

The construction on the building is amazing on its own, but the nature on it makes it even more mysterious to me. I always love when buildings like this have so much nature growing around them.

Walking back from the ruins, we saw where all the homeless cats chilled out and were fed, and saw all the geese on the lawn just walking around.

The bridge is also amazing at night, it throws yellow light on the water and makes it look golden.
