Cape May - Day 3

On our last day here, we went immediately to the lighthouse and WWII lookout tower, both which closed at 3 pm.

The walk up the lighthouse was a little over a two hundred steps, and it was 157 feet tall. It was built in 1859, and the most interesting thing to me was that this is actaully the third lighthouse. The spot of the past lighthouses are currently underwater due to erosion.

You get great views of the beach and the bunker from the lighthouse. Kinda spooky being up high but the bars make it feel better, though harder to take photos.

And it's still an operating lighthouse today! At sunset we saw it go on.

The World War II Lookout Tower is much smaller but still worth seeing. Cape May has such huge ties with the wars and this place has a lot of information on it.

Some shots from the tower. :) You can see the concrete ship in the distance.

Sunset Beach was great, there were so many horseshoe crabs, mostly babies. Sadly a lot of them were victims to the seagulls.

Went back to town for a bit before going to walk on the beach to see the sunset. The pink building is the taffy one! I also love their fading whale mural.

The beach walk was so beautiful, there was a lot of sea foam on the beach that kept washing up.

We reached the end of that part of the beach, where a lot of people come to watch the sunset every day. The view is facing the lighthouse, and the sun goes down right past it.

A lapse of the changing colors.

Bonus shots of inside the taffy store on our last day in the morning!
