Roosevelt Island Early Blooms
The Roosevelt Island cherry blossoms are just beginning to bloom, the festival is in late April so they'll be in full bloom then. Since it's early, all of the blooms were pretty white and not pink.
Some of the most beautiful, large trees by the left side of the island. Further down, near the end of the island, none of the tress have started to bloom yet.
Blackwell House, a historic home on the island which also happens to be the sixth oldest house in New York City and the oldest landmark on the island (1796).
I've always liked these little art pieces that you can see off the side of the island. Untrapped Cities talks about them here. They're called "The Marriage of Real Estate And Money."
The old Asylum, which is now apartments. On my first time on the island years ago, we went into it, there are a few pictures in the hall of what it used to look like but you can see how fancy it's become.
Walking on the other side of the Island, which is opposite Long Island City/Astoria. The red bridge is the Roosevelt Island Bridge.
Saw one of the old cable cars over here! Looks like it hasn't been touched for a while.
